Deadpool’s removal from digital game markets: An update

Earlier we told you thadeadpoolt the Deadpool game developed by High Moon Studios and published by Activision had been taken off of Steam, the Playstation Store, and the Xbox Games Store. Now Activision has confirmed to GameInformer that the game is gone for good, as well as a bunch of other Marvel titles. The other titles being taken off digital services are as follows: Spider-Man: Friend or Foe, Spider-Man: Web of Shadows, Spider-Man: Edge of Time, Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions, X-Men: The Official Game, X-Men: Destiny, and X-Men Origins: Wolverine. The reason for this it seems is that Activision’s Marvel license has expired with the end of 2013, meaning that if you want copies of any of these games, you’d better go find a physical copy now, as once they’re sold out it’s likely no more will be printed. At least there is always LEGO Marvel Super Heroes to go to for your fix of the Merc with the Mouth.
