Developer Evolution has announced that the long awaited PS Plus version of Driveclub will be launching this week. The edition, which was originally to have been a PS4 launch title, will finally be available for free to PS Plus users on Thursday, June 25.
Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida confirmed this in a post on the PS Blog, and said the launch will be done in stages to avoid the issues previously encountered with the disc based game. Players will have immediate access to the offline mode, and they will be brought gradually online so as not to overload the servers. The PS Plus version of the game has access to all game modes, but not all cars and tracks. A lot of the game’s initial launch problems are said to have been fixed, and a dynamic weather system has been introduced to the game. If all goes well, this truly could be the Playstation’s answer to the Forza series. We’ll find out once it becomes available Thursday.
