E3 2016- Microsoft Conference Highlights

Microsoft opened their conference with a message commemorating the victims of the mass shooting in Orlando, Florida. They then wasted no time in touting some new hardware, showing off the Xbox One S. Going forward, all new Xbox titles will be part of the Play Anywhere program, meaning you can jump from playing on the Xbox One to playing on a PC equipped with Windows 10 without having to buy a separate copy of the game. Xbox Live is promising to beef up their servers to provide a faster, more reliable network. New features coming to Xbox Live include Background Music (allowing you to listen to your music of choice as you play), Language region (you can choose your preferred language), Cortana, Clubs, Looking for Group, and Arena (a tournament platform). Also announced was Project Scorpio, and the fact that all three Xbox consoles will be compatible with all Xbox One games and accessories. A custom wireless controller was also shown off. Now, off to the highlights.

Xbox One S

The slimmed down version of the Xbox One, boasting of 2TB of internal HDD, a wireless controller, and 4K. The system will be available this August with prices starting at $299 (USD).

Gears of War 4

A new trailer showed off a mission from the co-op campaign. A specialty trailer was also shown. The exclusive title hits store shelves on October 11.

Killer Instinct

A new character for the fighting game was revealed.

Forza Horizon 3

The racing action moves to Australia with the largest open world for the series for gamers to play in. Releases on September 27.

Recore

Final Fantasy XV

A demo showing off combat, entitled Trail of Titan, was shown. The game releases on September 30.

DLC pack coming first to Xbox One.

Inside

New indie game from the creators of Limbo. Also, it was announced that as of today Limbo is free to all Xbox Live Gold subscribers.

New indie from Compulsion Games, coming to Xbox Preview July 26.

Gwent

The card game from The Witcher III is getting its own standalone title, complete with a full blown multiplayer experience and a single player campaign. Those wishing to register for the beta can do so at playgwent.com. The game is set to be released in September.

Tekken 7

The fighter has a new story mode, and will be coming early 2017. Also announced that Tekken Tag Tournament 2 will be free to Xbox Live Gold subscribers.
