Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes is set for a Spring 2014 release
Konami confirmed today that the next installment in Hideo Kojima’s stealth/action series Metal Gear Solid will be hitting consoles by spring of 2014. Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes will be available for the Xbox 360, Xbox One, the PS3, and the PS4. The game is separate from Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, serving as a way for players to familiarize themselves with the new aspects of this next entry into the franchise. The game will feature an open environment, with a day/night cycle, and a minimal interface. The game’s plot centers around a rescue mission that requires the infiltration of a Cuban prison camp, and will also have side missions that will be both tactical and covert in nature, as well as feature aerial assaults.
Series creator Hideo Kojima said in a statement, “The advanced capabilities of the FOX Engine have allowed me to tell the new story in a new way. There will be a significant difference in what Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain brings to the series, so we want to ease players into the new open world environment and its potential. As such, Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes has been designed to introduce key elements, allowing them to fully benefit from all that the new game will offer.”
Come spring of 2014, Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes will be available in both a retail version (for $30 US) and a digital version (for $20 US) for the Xbox 360 and the PS3. The game will only be available digitally for the Xbox One and the PS4 for $30 (US). As more information becomes available, we’ll be certain to pass it along.
