Microsoft has announced plans for releasing the Xbox One in and around Asia and Europe, of which almost seem like some sort of idiocy conga, as there are A LOT of countries the console won’t be coming to anytime soon, and possibly never. Something we need to remember, however, is who we are dealing with here: Microsoft. By my dying breath, I shall scream this message to the heavens, and stare God down in a frenetic look of anguish and an utter lack of surprise, and ask: “Why, oh why, does Microsoft not care about releasing their console to the poorer countries, robbing them of a unique gaming experience?” And he shall look me in the eyes, with a deadpan stare, and with chocolate milk spilled on his righteous beard, and give me these almighty words of wisdom: “Because they’re f***ing rich!”
Yes, they are rich. Very rich. They don’t have to care about releasing their console in countries where they can’t be certain most residents can even play it. The Xbox is just a fraction of the colossal empire that Bill Gates built. They’re aren’t like Nintendo, who exclusively a games (and trading card) company; and Sony, who might as well be, since all their other ventures are bringing in profit equal to the stains on the inside of a toilet bowl; Microsoft has enough money to simply not have to care about… anything, really. Playstation (and Nintendo) are sure to be dominating the Asian and European market, and does Microsoft care? No, not one damn bit, and they don’t have to! It’s sad, and unfortunate, yes; but it’s the cold, hard, desolate truth.
Despite all this, when the time comes, and I have enough money, I will buy an Xbox One; because it will be amazing, and sport a nice library of (exclusive) games. Does this make me a hypocrite? You be the judge.
My tastes in games breach all genres, though my fortes are platformers and first-person shooters. My favorite game series is probably Super Mario, specifically the 3D games. I also love Rayman, Hitman, Bioshock, Half-Life/Portal, Uncharted, and Grand Theft Auto. As for my favorite game, it's hard to say: I love Portal 2, Shadow of the Colossus, Half-Life 2, Bioshock, Resident Evil 4, Super Mario Galaxy 2, Rayman Legends, Hitman 2: Silent Assassin, Grand Theft Auto IV, L.A. Noire, Fallout 3, Journey, and Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence all so damn much.
