According to someone who has tried out Monster Hunter World on his PC, it appears that the game has trouble reaching 60 FPS on an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080.
Monster Hunter World Can’t Reach 60 FPS with GTX 1080
Previously, we have reported the specifications required to run the upcoming Monster Hunter World for PC. While the minimum requirements didn’t seem to be bad, the idea that a GTX 1060 will get you Full HD 1080p at 30 FPS does seem a bit scary since the GPU can’t be called weak.
This left many people wondering how Monster Hunter World actually plays on PC. Well, ResetEra’s FluffyQuack actually got a hands-on experience with the game, and this is what he had to say:
I got permission from a Capcom rep to post impressions of a review build of the game. The game supports framerates above 60 FPS (the framerate lock options are 30, 60, and “no limit”). Unlike most MT Framework games, the game can go beyond 120 FPS, though you’ll need a very beefy PC if you want to get close to 100 with settings around max.
He was using a PC that was running on an Intel Core i7-4790K, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080, and 16GBs of RAM. There were no mentions of SSD and other parts but we generally get a clear idea how powerful of a PC he has there. The following are the results that he got for each graphical setting in terms of FPS in 1440p:
- Low = 108 FPS
- Medium = 65 FPS
- High = 60 FPS
- Ultra = 44 FPS
It is said that volumetric lighting is very resource-intensive in the game, thus the drop from the Ultra preset to High gives it a solid framerate boost. Based on this, it seems reasonable to expect that an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 should be able to push a solid 60 FPS at 1080p Ultra. For a GTX 1060 and RX580, it might have a bit of trouble.
I would also like to point out that we’re still rought 2 weeks away from its release so Capcom may spend time further optimizing the game so it would run better. We will have to wait until its release date, 9th August 2018, to find out for sure.
Pokdepinion: Well, on an RX570, I may be screwed. Might just consider upgrading my GPU if I really need it but we’ll see how it goes.
