New releases for the week of Monday, December 14, 2015

The Force will be strong at the box office this week as the long awaited and highly anticipated Star Wars: Episode VII- The Force Awakens lands in theaters on Friday. Two other movies also open this week (the comedy Sisters and the family friendly Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip) but it’s more likely Star Wars fans will have run over the local cinemas. On the gaming front, Final Fantasy VI makes it to PC, the second episode of King’s Quest hits the PC and consoles, Xbox One players get early access to the dino game Ark: Survival Evolved, and Jacob and Evie Frye hunt for one of history’s most notorious killers in the Jack the Ripper DLC for Assassin’s Creed Syndicate. On the home video front Tom Cruise does more crazy stunts in Mission: Impossible- Rogue Nation, a bear goes to Washington in Ted 2, more young adult sci-fi action arrives in Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials, and one of the most panned comic book movies in cinema history arrives in the form of Fantastic 4. So let’s get to the list and, as always, release dates are subject to change.
