New releases for the week of Monday, February 10, 2014

lrff132It’s a fairly big week for new games and movies hitting home video, though Nintendo fans will be left out in the cold this time around. The latest in the Final Fantasy franchise hits consoles Tuesday with Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII. Far Cry fans have a good week as well, getting the Far Cry Compilation (containing Far Cry 2, Far Cry 3, and Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon) as well as getting the original Far Cry (now in HD!) on consoles as a downloadable title. Two big bundles come out for those who may have just gotten a PS3 for Christmas (one with Borderlands 2/Dishonored and the other featuring The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim/Bioshock Infinite). Borderlands 2 gets some Valentine’s Day themed DLC with a new Headhunter pack, Mad Moxxi and the Wedding Day Massacre, and we get a glimpse of Ellie’s life before she met Joel in Left Behind, the story DLC for The Last of Us. Home video sees the release of Orson Scott Card’s sci-fi classic Ender’s Game, mystery fans get the delight that is Sherlock: Season Three, Robert Redford’s tale of survival of a man lost at sea is told in All is Lost, and the 1967 Disney classic The Jungle Book gets the Blu-ray treatment for a new generation of kiddies of all ages to enjoy. In theaters we get a remake of Paul Verhoeven’s Robocop on Wednesday and the romance/fantasy in time for Valentine’s Day, Winter’s Tale, based on the novel by Mark Helprin and starring Colin Farrell, Jessica Brown Findlay, and Russell Crowe. Now, on to our list!
