NFC Mario Figurine Shown by Nintendo

Nintendo recently unveiled the very first prototype of an NFC figurine for the Wii U at an investor’s meeting, and no surprises, as  it was their flagship mascot, Mario.

More details about Nintendo’s NFC initiative (similar to Skylanders or Disney Infinite) will be revealed in detail at E3 said Nintendo President Satoru Iwata. The codename NFP is short for NFC Featured Platform and Nintendo Figurine Platform. The figures in question will work across a multitude of titles and platforms (Wii U and 3DS) rather than just working with one game.

Nintendo’s first dab at NFC figurines, Pokemon Rumble U wasn’t that successful, hence this new approach will be a bigger push into the lucrative toy and video games sector. The meeting with shareholders was said to be about discussing Nintendo’s less than favorable financial year.
