It’s no surprise that the PlayStation 5 will be a beastly machine. After all, we did report much earlier about it being based on the AMD Zen2 CPU and Navi GPU architectures. Not to mention, it will also have an SSD for storage so we can expect ultra-fast loading speeds. Now, we may have a glimpse on what kind of power the AMD Navi GPU on the PS5 will be like.
According to Twitter user @KOMACHI_ENSAKA, the engineering samples for the PlayStation 5 Oberon APU have three different clock speeds. The first, Gen0, is running at rather unremarkable 800MHz, while Gen2 is clocked at an incredible 2GHz.
BREAKING: THIS IS PS5. According to this leak- the GPU will be clocked at an insane 2ghz.
This equates to 9.2 TF on the RDNA architecture. Or roughly 14 TF on the GCN Architecture aka over double the power of the X1X. Almost RTX2080 power.

To give you a clearer idea, the PlayStation 5’s RDNA-based GPU at 2GHz is dishing out at least 9.2 TFLOPs according to Is A Parrot. For comparison, the GeForce RTX 2070 and GeForce RTX 2080 can hit 7.5 TFLOPs and 10.1 TFLOPs respectively. The closely related Radeon RX 5700 and Radeon RX 5700 XT are rated at 7.95 TFLOPs and 9.75 TFLOPs respectively. The Xbox One X and PlayStation 4 Pro are rated at 6 TFLOPs and 4.2 TFLOPs respectively.
Regardless of how you see it, it is a powerful gaming machine that definitely should not have trouble playing games in 4K UHD resolution. Keep in mind that the PlayStation 5 will support real-time ray tracing so we can expect some really breathtaking visuals. It’s worth noting that its rival, the Xbox Project Scarlett, will also be powered by an AMD Zen2 CPU and Navi GPU.
There are rumours that the Sony PlayStation 5 will unveiled on 12th February 2020. While it’s not confirmed, it will still be a good idea to keep an eye out on the calendar for that particular week.
Pokdepinion: At this point, I couldn’t care less about graphics. As long as the games are entertaining even with pixel-based visuals, I’d be more than happy to game on any platform.
