Batman: Arkham Origins looks to be getting a DLC pack this year featuring a familiar villain. According to an update made by Warner Bros. on its Batman Arkham Facebook page the game will have “all new story DLC coming in 2014”, and from the image released it looks as if the DLC pack will feature the villain Mr. Freeze. The image that accompanied the update featured a “Wayne Foundation Humanitarian of the Year” award which depicted a woman holding up diamond heart with shards of ice in the background. The figure in the award could be symbolic of Nora Fries, whom scientist Dr. Victor Fries (aka Mr. Freeze) placed in a cryogenic chamber in order to give him time to find a cure for the fatal disease that had afflicted his wife. Nothing definite has been stated yet, but from the image we can speculate that this DLC pack will be centered on the ice cold villain, possibly even detailing how Dr. Fries turned from being a scientist to a criminal. No release date beyond it coming out in 2014 has been given. As we get further details we’ll bring them to you.
In other comic book character game related news, it appears that Activision’s Deadpool game has been delisted from digital sites. The game apparently was first removed from Steam, and has now been also removed from the Playstation Store and Xbox Games Store. No reason has been given as to why the game is no longer being offered digitally. No word on physical copies of the game being taken off store shelves yet, but the possibility exists that may follow. Fans seemed to enjoy the game, while critics were less enthusiastic. We let you know the reason behind this once we learn more.
The creator of the Dead or Alive series, Tomonobu Itagaki, has confirmed through an interview with 4Gamer (translated by Siliconera) in December that his third person shooter game Devil’s Third is set for a 2014 release and is currently 80 percent complete. Itagaki stated, “Next year will be the year we’ll be releasing the console game, Devil’s Third. At the moment, it is about 80 percent complete, and we can about see the end of it. However, there’s still a little more polishing that needs to be done. That’s also one of the reasons I’ve decided to work independently.” Itagaki had departed from Temco a little over five years ago, and has been working on Devil’s Third at his own Valhalla Game Studios along with some former members of Team Ninja. Itagaki apologized to fans, and assured them that the game was still coming out. As of now, Devil’s Third does not have a publisher, nor has there any release window beyond the year 2014 been mentioned. The action game is set to come out on the PS3, Xbox 360, iPad,Surface, and Android. The game was first announced at E3 in 2010, and was originally to be published by THQ. We’ll pass along any more info on the game as we get it.
That’s it for now. Stay tuned for more news. Til next time…
