Nintendo announced yesterday that an Animal Crossing like Disney themed game will be released for the 3DS in April. Disney Magical World (which had been released in Japan last year as Disney Magic Castle: My Happy Life) will be available for Nintendo’s handheld on April 11, and will feature dozens of Disney characters in various Disney-themed worlds. Players help Disney characters accomplish different tasks, and can also plant crops, manage a cafe, or collect Disney trading cards. As of now the April 11 date is for a US release only, with Australia and the UK also getting the game sometime in April 2014. No word has been given as of yet about a wider European release.
In other 3DS news, Nintendo has announced a release date for Yoshi’s New Island, a game that has Yoshi carrying Baby Mario across a variety of locations to keep him safe. The creative director of the original Yoshi’s Island, Takashi Tezuka, is acting as producer on the title. The game will be available in the US on March 14, with releases for the UK, Australia, and Japan being listed simply as Q2 2014. The platformer will be available both as a retail game and on the Nintendo 3DS eShop.
Another new fighter has been confirmed for the upcoming Smash Bros. game for the Wii U and the 3DS. King Dedede, Kirby’s nemesis, is the 21st character to be added to the fighting game’s roster. Still no release date beyond that of sometime in 2014.
