Quick Hits- Laser firing dinosaurs, Rayman Legends grows

Far Cry 3 won over a lot of gamers and critics with its open world game pitting the main character of Jason Brody against not only bloodthirsty pilots but the fierce native fauna that inhabited Rook Island. One thing often brought up as a suggestion for DLC to add to the Ubisoft shooter was to include dinosaurs. Well, come May 1, those people will have their wish. Sort of. Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon is a standalone, downloadable title coming to the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC. You play as a cybernetically enhanced soldier voiced by Michael Biehn (The Terminator, Aliens) who takes on an island filled not only with robotic bad guys but laser spewing dinosaurs as well. The whole thing has an 80s retro vibe to it, with plenty of references to action films from that era. From the gameplay footage I’ve seen so far, this looks like it’ll be a fun title to play. We’ll see in a few weeks.

Many Wii U owners were disappointed when Ubisoft decided to delay Rayman Legends at the last minute, pushing it to September to coincide with the game’s release on both the PS3 and the Xbox 360. Well, this delay may have had pleasant consequences, as reported by the Official Nintendo Magazine. According to the magazine in speaking with senior game manager Michael Micholic, Ubisoft Montpellier is using the time to add to the game, creating an additional 30 levels complete with brand new bosses. Most of us will have to wait until late September of this year to check the game out, though Wii U owners can try out the game’s online challenge mode later this month for free as a way of apology for making them wait for what was to be a launch title for Nintendo’s newest console. For Rayman fans, that’s just that much more to look forward to come this fall.

What’s your take on this news? Excited for laser firing dinosaurs? More Rayman levels? Let us know in the comments below. Til next time…
