Quick Hits- Minecraft gets a PS3 release date, Arkham Origins has a new MP mode

Minecraft has been a wildly successful game, selling over 33 million copies. Tomorrow, December 17, PS3 owners will get to experience the game for themselves, with PS3 users in Europe getting the opportunity a day later, on December 18. The game is also expected to be available for the Vita and the PS4 at some point, though no release date has yet been given. The PS3 version of Minecraft will contain all of the content currently available on other platforms, and downloadable skins and textures are expected to follow. While developer Mojang hasn’t announced any Sony-specific content as yet, it has been hinted that such content may surface later on.

Batman: Arkham Origins has a new multiplayer mode, now accessible, on the PS3, Xbox 360, PC. Called Hunter, Hunted, the game mode offers a twist on the traditional Last Man Standing mode, using a 3v3v1 model, pitting three Bane thugs, three Joker thugs, and Batman against each other in an arena. There are no respawns, so whoever is left at the end of the round wins. Story DLC for the game is still forthcoming. More on that as we learn more.

Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster has a release date for both the PS3 and the Playstation Vita. Square-Enix has announced tat the game will release on both platforms on the same day, March 18, 2014 in North America and on March 21 in Europe. Both games will be bundled for the PS3 version, and if you buy Final Fantasy X for the Vita there will be a download code inside the box for Final Fantasy X-2.

The PS4 is now available in 12 more countries, according to a post on the PS Blog. The post says that “players in the Czech Republic, Hungary, Greece, Slovakia, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman, and South Africa” will all be able to get their hands on Sony’s newest console. The PS4 has already sold 2.1 million units worldwide, and it remains to be seen how these additions will boost sales. The additions raise the territories that the PS4 is available to 48. Contrast that with rival Microsoft’s Xbox One, which is currently only available in 13 territories but has sold 2 million units.
