Among the new titles announced during Saturday’s VGX, Telltale’s Game of Thrones has released a couple of new details. The game has been slated to run for several years, and Telltale has entered into a partnership with HBO, where the series based on the books by George R.R. Martin airs. The project is described as a “multi-year, multi-title partnership between Telltale and HBO Global Licensing, targeted to premiere digitally in 2014 with an episodic game series for home consoles, PC/Mac, and mobile devices. Specific platform details are yet to be announced.” Also yet to be announced is just how the game will tie in to the events portrayed in the TV show and in the books. It should prove interesting to see how Telltale will handle players’ forays into Westeros. As more details become available we’ll pass them along.
Want to take control of the legendary pirate Blackbeard? You’ll be able to do so today, when a new multiplayer DLC, called Blackbeard’s Wrath, for Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag is released. The DLC will run you 2.99 (USD) or is free if you’re a Season Pass holder, and will be available for the PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and the PC. The multiplayer add-on will feature three new characters with varying abilities. Blackbeard has greater strength to throw targets off balance and can finish them off with a single strike. The Orchid, a former military advisor during China’s Qing Dynasty, uses the training she gained in that post to be proficient with her blade. The final character is The Jaguar, an Aztec warrior from Mexico who works with the Templars and favors an axe as his weapon of choice. A trophy called “Queen Anne’s Revenge” will be unlocked should you take control of Blackbeard.
The newest racer from Polyphony Digital, Gran Turismo 6, debuted last Friday to sales figures that are on a pace to considerably lag behind its predecessor, Gran Turismo 5, which had sales exceeding 10 million units, almost half of which were sold in Europe. The first week sales were shown to be lagging by UK Chart-Track figures, and the game finished eighth in the All Formats Top 10, behind Call of Duty: Ghosts, FIFA 14, Battlefield 4, Assassin’s Creed IV, GTA V, LEGO Marvel, and Just Dance 2014. Among the factors cited were that it was a Friday release, and released a week after the PS4.
That’s all for now. Stay tuned for more news. Til next time…
