The Nintendo Switch is currently sitting at the top of a “least creepy” holiday gifts list as voted for by customers, and suddenly the reasoning behind the creation of our ‘Random’ article tag has become abundantly clear.
At first, thinking of our little Switch consoles as being voted the “least creepy” holiday gift gave us a little chuckle; would it need to develop horns and fangs, or sneak up on you in the middle of the night to be downvoted instead? In actuality, though, the voting makes a lot of sense and is part of the Mozilla Foundation’s security polling system – a community of sorts which allows users to share their experiences with things like questionable webcams, microphones, or tracking systems, and similar issues that could cause security concerns.
At the time of writing, the Switch is the “least creepy” gift idea on the entire site, with 65% of votes being placed on the most favourable voting option (as seen below). For the sake of comparison, the PS4 is also a “least creepy” product, but the favourable voting has only reached 41% so far; also, only 67% of people have said that they are likely to buy one as opposed to the Switch’s 79%.
Of course, you could make things considerably creepier by loading up a sinister horror game or two, but it’s good to know that users consider their Switch to be safe. One particular notice on the site does say that the Switch “shares your information with 3rd parties for unexpected reasons”, though, with Mozilla therefore generating a sad face next to that particular category.
While we’re on the topic, do you have any issues with the safety and security of your Switch? Or are you happy and comfortable using it and its many features? Let us know in the comments.
