Have we found the new Crysis? While Rockstar brought one of the most anticipated PS4 exclusives to PC, it seems like they have a lot more work to do. Aside from running into issues like it crashing somewhat frequently for a lot of gamers out there, there’s also another problem. Few gamers can actually enjoy the full visual experience of Red Dead Redemption II.
According to Guru3D‘s tests, a GeForce RTX 2080 Ti can’t even hit 144 Hz at Full HD with Ultra texture and High settings for the rest of the options. With the Vulkan API, the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti eked out 104 fps, while AMD’s top-of-the-line Navi card pushed out just 74 frames per second.
At 1440p, the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti hits 80 fps, while Pascal’s flagship, the GeForce Titan Xp only manages 48 fps. The Radeon RX 5700 XT fares better with 60 fps, right on the sweet spot.
4K is when you see none of the cards even delivering 60 fps. The fastest gaming card money can buy right now, the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti, only manages to eke out 48 fps. Just for contrast, the slowest card tested by Guru3D was the GeForce GTX 1060, clocking in an amazing 13 fps.
We believe Rockstar will be pushing out updates to improve performance of Red Dead Redemption II on these cards, although it was noted that tuning down some graphics settings proved to be very beneficial for frame rates. Also, cards with 6GB VRAM and above are recommend, with 8GB being the sweet spot.
How did your card fare in RDR2?
Pokdepinion: 45 fps for the old 1070 Ti I am running? Oh well, look at a game I am not buying.
