It would appear that the latest edition of Japan’s CoroCoro magazine has given away a previously unknown fact about Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, with one page stating that the game will feature 108 playable stages.
According to Source Gaming, that particular page – which is completely dedicated to information on the game – mentions some things we already know (like the inclusion of Simon and Richter Belmont) as well as this new total stage number. You can see the page in question below.
Ever since the Super Smash Bros. focused Nintendo Direct back in August, the official word on the game’s stage count has been that there will be 103 unique stages, not 108. During the presentation, Masahiro Sakurai stated that excluding Battlefield, Final Destination and Big Battlefield would result in a total of 100, and a graphic was shared to compare this number with previous games in the series.
Until we hear more about this from an official Nintendo source, it’s hard to know whether CoroCoro has leaked information early, or whether this is simply a mistake. The magazine is very reputable, and often shares exclusive reveals directly from Nintendo in Japan, so this could well mean that another five stages are still to be officially announced. As ever, though, we urge you to take this with a pinch of salt until we get an official confirmation.
Do you think we could get even more stages. Would you want to see another five? Let us know your dream stages in the comments below.
