Sony has registered two new trademarks in the UK under the acronym LBP, suggesting the possibility that Media Molecule may be working on another game related to LittleBigPlanet. Both trademarks were published at the end of October, with one being filed on May 16, 2013 and the other being filed on March 25, 2013. Both were filed by Sony Computer Entertainment Limited. The one filed in May 2013 reads:
“Electronic game services provided by means of the internet, internet games (non-downloadable), organizing of games; providing of an on-line gaming service enabling physically remote players of an electronic game to search on-line for other players and to communicate with selected players during the game; organizing , staging, and the provision of on-line video and computer game tournaments and competitions.” It’s very possible this trademark could refer to the upcoming LittleBigPlanet Hub that has been announced for the PS3.
The one filed in March 2013 is somewhat different. That one reads: “Computer game software. Toys, games, and playthings; bags and cases adapted or shaped to contain handheld electronic game devices and computer game peripherals and accessories; parts and fittings for all the aforementioned goods.” What this means is anyone’s guess. It could be some sort of bundle with the Vita containing a specialized case, or it could refer to other merchandise using the LBP brand.
For now, there are no answers as to what the trademarks are for, just some speculation. What are your thoughts, readers? What does this mean to you? Let us know in the comments below, and keep an eye out for more info on this story.
