The Last of Us was one of last year’s best games, and for many one of the best for the PS3 for all time. Now the game is set to get its last piece of DLC for the PS3. This DLC will also be part of the complete package (along with the other multiplayer packs and the single player “Left Behind”) when the game is released for the PS4 under the title The Last of Us: Remastered. The Grounded Bundle is mainly for those who participate in the multiplayer, but there is something for the solo player as well. The bundle is available only to those with the season pass. Others can purchase the separate parts piecemeal, however, if they so choose. The parts of the DLC are detailed below.
For the solo player, Grounded adds a new difficulty level. Naughty Dog’s Eric Monacelli describes the new mode. “The AI is relentless, smart, and brutal, and survival will be near impossible. ‘Completed Grounded Mode’ might be one of the most difficult Trophies you’ll ever earn.” Those who wish to tackle this mode and don’t have the season pass can do so for $4.99 (USD).
Four new maps for the multiplayer will be made available. Going under the title of Reclaimed Territories, these maps include the following: Wharf (where Joel encounters Robert), Capitol (based in Boston), Coal Mine (Colorado), and Water Tower, which is set in the town of Lincoln, Pennsylvania. These maps will run you $9.99 (USD).
A weapons pack contains some new guns for you to use, including a silenced assault rifle called the Spectre, a double-barrel shotgun appropriately named Double-Barrel, a pistol called the Enforcer, and a weapon that fires small explosives called the Launcher. The weapons package comes under the title Survivalist weapon Bundle and costs $5.99 (USD).
There are also two survival skills bundles. Situational Survival Skills includes Agility, Awareness, Fortitude, and Scavenger, and can be purchased for $3.99 (USD). The Professional Survival Skills bundle includes Gunslinger, Bomb Expert, Executioner, and Damage Marker. This also will run you $3.99 (USD).
In addition to all listed above, everyone will get for free a new weapon for use in the multiplayer, called the Full-Auto Rifle. No date has been given yet for the release of the DLC. The PS4 version is expected to drop sometime this summer. Stay tuned for more details.
