Not many TV or film-based video games end up being worth your time, but 2003’s The Simpsons: Hit & Run was one of the few that broke that particular curse. We actually have fond memories of playing the game on PS2 rather than the GameCube version – blasphemy on this site, we know – but the game is considered a classic by many, regardless of which platform you played it on.
That’s why we’re particularly excited to hear the original game’s producer express an interest in a remake or remaster. Speaking to LADbible, Vlad Ceraldi has spoken about how he could see the game launching on various modern platforms, even if a potential remake wouldn’t be entirely his decision:
“I could see it on multiple different types of platforms as a remake or remaster. It would have to take the parties who are in charge of the property to want that to happen and someone out there to decide that they were going to go out and do it. But absolutely, it would be fun to explore those characters and that universe again, that work again.”
He goes on…
“There’s masters out there like Nintendo and other companies who have nailed it time and time again, so it would be wonderful to reinvest in how you can control the characters, how you can control the world, how much of the world you can explore in detail.”
With remakes and remasters being fired out of game development studios at an increasing rate these days, we wouldn’t actually find it all that surprising if the game did reappear one day. Here’s hoping, anyway.
