This Week's Japanese Game Releases: Fire Emblem: Three Houses, Kill la Kill: IF, more

Fire Emblem: Three Houses and Kill la Kill: IF highlight this week’s Japanese game releases.

The latest entry in the long-running turn-based tactical RPG series, Fire Emblem: Three Houses for Switch puts players in the role of Byleth, a mercenary turned teacher at Garreg Mach Monastery’s Officer’s Academy, where he or she will lead one of three houses in their academic lives and in strategic battles. As the story progresses, your choice of house will greatly affect where you stand when the land becomes engulfed in war as former friends must face each other on the battle field as enemies.

Kill la Kill: IF for PlayStation 4, Switch, and PC is the first ever video game adaption of the Studio Trigger-produced anime series, developed by APlus Games under the supervision of Arc System Works. It features 10 playable characters—with two more planned for release as free downloadable content—and gameplay modes including two story modes, various battle modes, and a gallery.

Other new releases this week include Rune Factory 4 Special, an enhanced port of the 2013-released 3DS title for Switch, Olympic Games Tokyo 2020: The Official Video Game from Sega for PlayStation 4 and Switch, and many more.
